25-year-old midfielder Claudio Yacob believes Steve Clarke’s coaching and ‘winning mentality’ is bringing the best out of him – and the team.
The Argentinian international has been impressed by the Baggies boss since his arrival at The Hawthorns in July, and he says being on the same wavelength as him has helped him make what appears to be a seamless transition from Argentina’s Primera Division to the Barclays Premier League.
He told the official West Brom website:
“I feel from Steve Clarke that he has a winning mentality and that’s very important for me and the team. I can feel it and I have the same mentality. It stands out very clearly that he has a lot of experience and that’s helped me to settle down, and you can also see that it has helped the players to establish themselves.”
The combative midfielder is refusing to get carried away with third-placed Albion’s flying start to the season, and his focus remains very much on amassing as many points as possible by Christmas to give the Baggies a strong platform to push on during the second half of the campaign.
“There’s a long way to go and it’s a long championship. I think by Christmas we need to have collected as many points as possible and then after December we will be able to see what sort of position we can get West Brom in.”
