Unai Emery will have a big decision to make as to how he will line up in terms of attack for Sunday’s Premier League clash at Bournemouth.
The main doubt for the manager would be as to who starts as the team’s wingers following last weekend’s struggling performance against Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Emirates that saw the home side registering their first shot on target in the 60th minute only.
October Player of the Month winner Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, in particular, found it difficult to create space on the left-flank, while Alex Iwobi was also closed down very quickly by the Wolves defenders on the other wing.
But the Gunners managed to sneak a late equaliser thanks to Henrikh Mkhitaryan who found the back of the net after coming on for Sead Kolasinac in the 76th minute.
Mkhitaryan’s goal means that Emery might hand him a start at the Vitality Stadium come Sunday, but in who’s place?
The versatility of all three wingers mean that Emery could easily swap them around, depending on the opposition but after Aubameyang’s showing against Wolves, the best could be to use him as a substitute again and move Iwobi to the left with Mkhitaryan slotting in on the right, as they did against Leicester City.
The Armenian international looked solid in the match he started on the right-wing against Liverpool and was able to find himself in space on more than one occasion.
Iwobi’s ability to run at defenders and create chances from nothing justifies the idea of him starting at Bournemouth in what would be a difficult defence for the Gunners to crack.
Aubameyang, on the other hand, has proven to be quite the super-sub, scoring two goals in consecutive matches after only coming on in the second-half.
Given how the encounter goes, Aubameyang could also maybe be brought on for Alexandre Lacazette if he is having a difficult game, but the two have complemented each other quite well this season when the former Borussia Dortmund man came on from the bench.
