Bernard has been out for just over a month now after suffering a knee injury in Everton’s 3-2 defeat against Brighton in October.
The Brazilian suffered a grade 2 medial ligament injury but after missing a rocky period for the Toffees, he could return this weekend after Marco Silva offered a fresh update on Friday afternoon.
The Portuguese said: “Bernard is working with the team and did a full session yesterday morning. It is the type of injury where he needs to build confidence and work more days with the team to see how he will react.”
Upon seeing the news, it didn’t exactly leave many Everton fans too enamoured as their negativity filtered through to the winger.
One claimed he should be put in the U23s until he can prove himself, while another called for Anthony Gordon to feature instead.
A further supporter said to save him for next week instead.
The 27-year-old hasn’t convinced too much this season and has just two goals to his name. He’s also gone through the campaign with a measly pass success rate of 72.3%.
Here’s the best of the reaction from Twitter.
Meanwhile, check out what Eddie Howe had to say about being linked with the Toffees…
