Crystal Palace fans have taken to Twitter to lavish praise on Cheikhou Kouyate, following an immense team performance against Bournemouth.
The south Londoners went down to ten men after just 19 minutes when Mamadou Sakho lunged into Adam Smith, forcing Roy Hodgson to move Kouyate to centre-back – a position that he is not entirely unfamiliar with having played there for West Ham and for Senegal in the past.
Impressively, the 29-year-old completed 95.5% of his passes while also keeping a clean sheet, as well as winning two tackles, making three interceptions and also three clearances – it was truly a colossal display.
Jeffrey Schlupp’s goal means that the Eagles are now fifth, and have also won more Premier League games in 2019 than Arsenal, Manchester United and Tottenham – Hodgson is doing a phenomenal job, to say the least.
This supporter was simply head over heels for Kouyate after the former Anderlecht man’s display, stating that his performance “should not go under the radar” while also mentioning that the Senegalese star is proving to be a great capture.
Another agreed with the above sentiment, and thought that Kouyate’s performance was a “heroic” one in which Palace’s No.8 put everything on the line for the cause.
The adoration for the 6 foot 4 powerhouse continued, with another supporter highlighting the African’s work rate as a worthy talking point – they stated that it is “phenomenal”.
Additionally, two other fans who hold Palace close to their hearts wanted to praise Kouyate for his showing in a position that he has rarely played in for the Eagles, if at all – since arriving at Selhurst Park, Hodgson has predominantly used him as a midfielder.
Lastly, one more fan also felt that Kouyate was on top form against Eddie Howe’s lacklustre Cherries, crowning the dominant figure’s performance as “outstanding”.
In other Crystal Palace news, these supporters are all saying the same thing about Christian Benteke…
