As reported by The Sun, new Arsenal manager Unai Emery is set to hold talks with midfielder Jack Wilshere about extending his stay at the Emirates Stadium after his contract expired.
What’s the story?
Wilshere is effectively a free agent, with Italian media reporting over the weekend that he had recently been offered a deal at Serie A side Juventus.
That means a career long association with Arsenal could be coming to an end.
However, The Sun report that Emery is set to take action and set out his vision of Arsenal’s future to the 26-year-old, with a view to convincing him to stay on at the English Premier League club.
The paper report that Wilshere would have to take a 25% pay cut to his current £120,000-a-week wages.

Should Wilshere stay?
It’s clear that the England international loves the Gunners and he’s worked hard to get back into first team plans at the club after injury issues plagued his career for years. Last season he appeared to put most of those issues behind him, making 38 appearances in all competitions.
No-one knows how the Unai Emery era is going to pan out but Wilshere should give things a chance at the club and accept a new deal. Arsenal should likewise show a bit of faith in the player and give him a deal that perhaps meets his demands somewhere in the middle.
He still has plenty to offer the Gunners and could find renewed purpose playing under the incoming manager. Emery certainly appears to want him around and that bodes well with regards to his future.
